QUSEIR AMRA CASTLE - JORDAN

The name Quseir Amra means the "little red castle". This castle is located 90 km far from Amman and it is the most interesting among the Umayyad Castles of Jordan. It was both a fortress with a garrison and a residence of the Umayyad caliphs. They were constructed of limestone,in the early 8th century, yet the real attraction to Quseir Amra are the extensive frescoes.
