MADARA RIDER SCUPTURE - BULGARIA


The Madara Rider (horse man), representing the figure of a knight triumphing over a lion, is carved into a 100-m-high cliff near the village of Madara in north-east Bulgaria. The sculptor carved in the early 8 century, creating a majestic horse and a rider 23 m above ground level on an almost vertical cliff.
